Obituary

Nelson K. Huckabee Jr., 89, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 after a lengthy illness.

A lifelong resident of Shreveport, Louisiana, he was proud to serve his country in the United States Air Force and was a Korean War Veteran.  He retired from his long time position in Machine Repair at Libbey Glass.  A respected and devoted husband, father, and friend, he spent much of his free time working on projects for others or humbly lending a helping hand to anyone in need.  He could usually be found in his workshop where he took great pride in building or repairing most anything. He also enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Guynes Huckabee, his sons James Claude Huckabee, Carl Leslie Huckabee, and Patrick Michael Huckabee, his daughter Amanda Kay Huckabee Cascio and her husband, Chris, his grandchildren Jesse Huckabee, Cory Huckabee, Jeremy Huckabee, Melanie Huckabee Hollowell, Christian Cascio and Isabella Cascio, and his great-grandchildren Oliver Huckabee, Tuesday Huckabee, Ayden Hollowell, Makenna Hollowell, Axl Hollowell, Maverick Hollowell, and Harrison Huckabee.  He is also survived by his sister, Mary Ann Huckabee Rushing, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nelson K. Huckabee Sr., his mother, Mary Ellen Flournoy Huckabee, his daughter Lorrie Ellen Huckabee, and his brother David Huckabee.

The family would like to express their thanks to the nurses and staff at the NWLA War Veteran's Home for their exceptional care and kindness in his last few months
